Healing Others with Reiki

Excerpt from the book The Living Handbook of Reiki

Before healing others with Reiki, you need to become attuned to at least the Reiki first degree from a Reiki Master. You cannot learn Reiki by reading a book or article online.

Healing Others: Front Body

To begin:
  1. Wash hands. During all healing, ensure healee's and your legs/feet are not crossed.

  2. State and be in the attitude of Gratitude: 'I thank my Higher Self for being here. I thank Reiki for being here. I thank (healee's name...) for being here. Reiki please make (healee's name...) healed whole and complete. So it is. Thank you. Thy will be done.'

  3. The person being treated should best be lying down. Begin with the front body positions. Start the healing procedure by laying of cupped hands according to the sequence. Desire the person be healed.

  4. Wait for the feedback, or three minutes at least, at each position.

If at any time your hands are drawn away or you are guided to move them to another place away from, but near the starting position, allow this to happen.

But remember that the technically correct position should also be given Reiki healing for a short while.

  5. When you feel complete with the current position, move gently on to the next position, one hand at a time, always maintaining contact with the healee's body.

  6. After completing the sequence, if you feel you need to go back to some previously done position, do so.

  7. On completing the front body Reiki, take a position where the healee's head is at your right. This is important. If necessary, ask the healee to adjust his position so that his head is at your right when he is lying on his back. (In future, you can remember to position the healee before starting the treatment such that this naturally happens).

  8. For the next procedure, practice drawing anticlockwise spirals in the air with the first two fingers of your right hand, before using this procedure. (You may practice now if you like). In all energy work, use only anticlockwise spirals.

  9. Draw rapid anticlockwise spirals a few inches from the healee's body with the first two fingers of your right hand:
    1. down from nearest shoulder to fingers, and
    2. down from nearest shoulder to toes.
    3. down from farther shoulder to fingers, and
    4. down from farther shoulder to toes.
Finish by drawing three-and-a-half anticlockwise ellipses (ovals) with your hand, palm facing downwards, about 9 inches (20 cms) above the healee's body, starting from the toes and moving up around and down the head, ending at the level of the heart near the shoulder (not above heart).
  10. This concludes the summary for giving front-body Reiki treatment to others.

    Healing Others: Back Body

    To begin:
    1. Ask the person to lie face down, turning from their right side.

    2. Start with any back of head position that may not have been covered during the front body Reiki.

    3. Move hands down in sequence as for the front body Reiki treatment.

    4. After finishing with the root chakra position, give Reiki to the back of knees.

    5. After completing all positions, do the Chakra Balancing Procedure (described below). After that complete with the Closing Attitude of Gratitude: '(Healee's name...) is healed whole and complete. Thank you. So it is. Thy will be done. I thank Reiki, I thank my Higher Self, I thank (healee's name).'

    6. If, after completing the chakra balancing (described below), the healee is asleep, leave him undisturbed for as long as possible.

    7. After completing the chakra balancing, place right hand lightly on the shoulder of the healee. PLace the first two fingers of the left hand on the seventh cervical vertebra on the spine - the back throat chakra. Maintaining firm contact, rapidly bring the fingers down to the root chakra drawing a line from top to bottom. Do this three times. For diabetics, the lines aredrawn down twice and then from the root chakra up towards the neck once. This procedure removes residual negativbe energy from the spinal chakras via the root chakra. Conclude with a smart pat at the root chakra with the palm of your hand. This seals the root chakra so that the negative energy does not flow back. Do not neglect this. Finish with a gentle loving touch from the top of the head to the feet. This completes the summary of giving full body Reiki treatment to others.

    Chakra Balancing with Reiki

Chakra Balancing is to be done at every full-body Reiki session for the healee. It can create an 'instant' state of well-being in many acute conditions without the need for full-body Reiki. But please remember that serious conditions require full body Reiki.

Chakra balancing is a very quick healing method for many acute problems which may also require Reiki directly on affected areas. After giving Reiki to the affected area, balance the chakras on the spine as detailed below.

    The Chakra Balancing Procedure

The following chakras are to be balanced pair-wise on the spine:

    1. Back Third Eye and Root Chakras
    2. Back Throat and Back Hara Chakras
    3. Back Heart and Back Solar Plexus Chakras

While balancing the chakras, keep in mind the intention that you are balancing the particular pair of chakras. Always take care to balance these pairs in this sequence only. In case of errors, mentally cancel the procedure and re-do it.

    Quick Method of Chakra Balancing:

    1. Place you right lightly cupped palm on healee's back third eye chakra gently while placing your lightly cupped left palm gently on healee's root chakra.

    2. Slowly allow your hands to rise up - at some point you may feel a change in sensation in your hands - pause there. If you do not feel any sensations, pause anywhere from a couple of inches (five cms) above the healee's body to about ten inches (25 cms)above healee's body, keeping both palms level with each other.

    3. Mentally declare: '(Healee's name's) third eye and root chakra are balanced, so it is.'

    4. Now, without touching healee's body, move your right cupped palms above throat chakra, and left cupped palm over healee's back hara. Pause there for some seconds.

    5. Mentally declare: '(Healee's name's) throat and hara chakras are balanced, so it is.'

    6. Without touching healee's body move your right palm above and over healee's back heart chakra, and bring your left hand above and over healee's back solar plexus chakra. Pause there for a few seconds.

    7. Mentally declare: '(Healee's name's) heart and solar plexus chakras are balanced, so it is.

    8. Place your right cupped palm lightly on healee's heart chakra area on his back, then place your left palm on top of your right.

    9. Mentally declare: '(Healee's name's) chakras are balanced, he is healed whole and complete, so it is, thank you, Thy will be done.'

    10. Then with your right hand on healee's shoulder, with the first two fingers of the left hand firmly draw three vertical lines down the centre of the spine all the way to the root (to discharge negative energies) and then with your left palm smartly pat the root chakra closed.

    11. If the healee has diabetes, then draw two lines down, and the third up - patting the root chakra closed. (This helps prevent sudden drop in blood sugar levels).

    12. With both hands gently touch the healeefrom head to foot, in a gentle loving motion, distributing the energies evenly.

    13. Internally thank Reiki, healee and your Higher Self. Tell the healee he may get up whenever he wishes. Wash hands.
